2 cups ham cubed
5 potatoes peeled and sliced , about l/4″ thick
6 tbsps. butter
l med onion chopped
l/2 cup flour
4 cups milk
l/2 tsp. marjoram
l-l/2 tsp. salt
l/8 tsp. pepper
l cup grated cheese for topping
Heat oven 350. Cube ham and set aside. Peel and slice potatoes and put in bowl with enough water to cover. Heat butter in med pan over med heat. Add onions and cook until soft, but not brown. Add flour and stir to make a roux. Add milk and stir constantly while it comes to a gentle boil. Turn heat down and let sauce cook for 2 mins. Stir in marjoram, s&p. In greased 2 qt. baking dish put a layer of half of potatoes followed by half of the ham. Pour half of the white sauce over the layers. Make another layer of potatoes and ham and pour the remining sauce over the top. Sprinkle with grated cheese. Cover and bake at 350 for l hr. or until potatoes are tender.
