PLUM KUCHEN

l-l/2 cups flour
l-l/2 tsp. baking powder
l[l/2 tsp. cinnamon
l/4 tsp. salt
l stick butter, room temp.
2/3 cup plus l/4 cup sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsps. vnailla
l/2 tsp. almond
l/2 cup sour cream
5 large plums, halved, pitted, each cut into 8 wedges
Prheat oven 350. Butter l3x9″ baking pan. Sift flour, baking powder, l tsp. cinnamon and salt into small bowl. Using electric mixer beat 6 tbsps. butter with 2/3 cup sugar in large bowl until well blended. Beat in eggs l at a time then extracts. Beat in dry ingredients in 3 additions alternately with sour cream in 2 additions. Spread batter in pan. Arrange plum wedges on their sides in 4 long rows atop batter. Mix l/2 tsp. cinnamon and l/4 cup sugar in small bowl. Sprinkle over plums. Malt2 tbsps. butter. Drizzle over kuchen. Bake kuchen until tester comes out clean, about 40 mins. Transfer pan to rack. Cool until just warm, about 30 mins. Cut into 4 lengthwise strips. Cut each strip crosswise into thirds. Bon Appetit October l007
