DUTCH APPLE CHEESE MUFFINS

2 cups flour
l/2 cup sugar
l tnbsps. baking powder
ltsp. salt
l stick cold butter, cut into l/2 inch pieces
8 ozs. cheddar cheese, cut into l/2 inch pieces
l large egg
3/4 cup whole milk
l lb. apples, peeled, halved, cored and sliced crosswise into thin half moons (two)

Glaze:
l/2 cup sugar – 2 TBSPS. BUTTER – 1 tbsps. lemon juice – l/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsps. water
Heat oven 375. rease and flour l2 cup muffin tin. Pulse flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, butter and cheese in food processor until mixresembles coarse meal; transfer to large bowl. Whisk egg and milk in measuring cup then sowly stir into four mix until combined. Spoon batter into prepared tin. Arrange apple slicees, cut side down on top of batter, pressing gently to adhere. Bake until edges of muffins are just golden about l5 mins.
For the glaze: While muffins are baking heat sugar, water, butter, lemon juice and cinnamon in saucepan over med heat untilbutter is melted and sugar is dissolved about 3 mins. Once edges of mnuffins are just golden brush muffins with glazd. turn to oven and bake until pick comes out clean about l0 mins or so. Cool in pan for 5 mins then carefully transfer to rack.
